Jack wasn’t interested in being a father and suggested Serena have an abortion. That was the final straw for her, and she left. Her parents, who had never been all that fond of Jack, let her move back home. Once she had paid off her loans, she and Sam moved to Hedon Falls, where she took the job at Greely’s.

Jack had taken her money, her virginity, and her love. The only thing she’d gotten in return was her son. She loved him dearly, but the experience had soured her on relationships, and she was determined not to fall into the same trap again. Up until now, that had been easy. Other men had expressed interest, but she hadn’t been attracted to them, and it was easy to say no. And she could take care of any sexual needs on her own. One of the first things she bought for herself when they moved out of her parents’ house was a vibrator. With it, she had had her very first orgasm. Jack had certainly never been able to achieve that.

She thought she would be okay with just the toy. But she had used it almost every night since she first met the men from the aquarium store and fantasized about them. But for the first time, she didn’t feel satisfied, even though she came.

After Sam went to bed that night, Serena sat down at the computer in her room and went online. She purchased some ménage books and began reading. The scenes of three-way sex certainly turned her on, but she didn’t quite understand how it was physically possible. So for the first time ever, she decided to find some videos to explain. She typed “free porn double penetration” into the search engine and was rewarded with a long list. She made sure her bedroom door was locked, and when she clicked on the first item in the list, she was taken to a site with pictures across the top of varying amounts of people engaged in sexual activity. There were links to videos, and she found one that showed a woman and two men. She clicked on that and sat back to watch.

The video started with the woman taking turns kissing the men. They quickly managed to pull all her clothes off and were running their hands all over her body. They shed their own clothes and stood over her, their large cocks pointing in her face. She grabbed both of them and took turns sucking and licking one while jerking the other off with her hand. Serena was becoming very aroused. She had never thought she would like watching porn, but this was interesting. She slid her nightgown up to her waist, leaned back in the chair and placed her feet on the edge of the desk, her legs spread wide. One hand slid under the nightie to her breasts while the other slipped beneath the waistband of her panties. As she watched the threesome on the screen, she pinched and pulled on her nipples, which were now achingly hard. With her other hand, she slid a finger up and down her slit. She was incredibly wet. She dipped a finger into her dripping pussy, withdrew it, and spread the juices up between her lips and over her swollen clit. She rubbed the hardened nub with light, quick strokes as she watched the man in the video lick the woman’s cunt. She couldn’t believe how turned on she was by the sight, especially when the second man lowered his mouth to one of her tits and began licking and sucking her nipple. There were definite advantages to fucking two men at once, Serena thought, rubbing her clit harder.

On screen, the woman was now moving to straddle one man, and Serena watched in fascination as his cock slid in and out of her. So that’s what sex looks like. The second man stood with his cock in front of her, and she sucked on it. Serena thrust two fingers into her own pussy and began furiously fingering herself. Her clit was begging for more attention, so she lowered her other hand and used it to stroke the sensitive bud. She was breathing very hard now and moaning softly. She could feel her orgasm building. The second man took his dick from the woman’s mouth and moved in behind her. He slid his cock slowly into her ass while the first man fucked her pussy. Holy fuck, Serena thought. As she watched the woman being fucked from both sides, she came spectacularly, unable to stifle a cry of bliss.

As the waves of pleasure receded, Serena withdrew her hands from between her legs, wiped them on the hem of her nightgown and sat up straight. She shut the computer down and headed to bed on very shaky legs.

  Chapter 6

Serena was relieved to be back at work on Thursday. She had a lot of work to catch up on and it meant she didn’t have to think about the Dalton brothers. She picked up Chinese food on the way home and she and Sam enjoyed it in front of the TV. She was doing dishes in the kitchen when she heard Sam yelling from the living room. She ran out to find him in front of the fish tank.

“What is it?” she asked. “What’s wrong?”

“Wave is dead!” Sam cried. He pointed to the orange fish lying on the bottom of the tank.

Oh, for fuck’s sake! Serena thought. Why was it so hard to keep fish alive? They scooped the dead fish out and had a small funeral in the bathroom. She tested the water again afterwards, but it seemed to be all right. She noticed a filmy whitish gunk over some of the gravel in the bottom. She searched online for information and everything she found made her think there might be a fungus in the tank. Several sites recommended a fungus cure for the tank.

“Sam,” she said. “Let’s go to Pets‘R’Us and pick up a fungus medicine for the fish.”

“Why would we go to Pets‘R’Us?” Sam asked. “We should just go to Liam and Lance’s store.”

Serena wasn’t ready to face the men, yet. But she needed to do something about her tank. “Pets‘R’Us is closer, and it’s almost your bedtime, so I want to be quick.”

Sam complained, but in the end, they went to Pets‘R’Us. The store was very large and had a section for dogs, one for cats, and one for fish, reptiles, and amphibians. They made their way to the back where the fish were. Serena went to the counter and explained the problem to the employee.

“We have a fungus guard you can get,” the woman said. She led Serena to an aisle and pointed to a selection of fish medicines. “There’s the fungus guard. You might also want to try the general cure and the parasite remover. They can help clear up anything in your tank.”

Serena thanked the woman and picked up the three boxes. Sam was staring into one of the tanks. “I want to get a sucker fish,” he said, pointing to one stuck on the glass of the tank in front of him.

“We’re not getting any more fish until we straighten this out,” Serena said.

They paid for their purchases and went home. Serena read the directions on the boxes. They took the filter cartridge out and dumped the medicine tablets into the tank where they fizzled like antacid. The water turned a gross shade of green.

“Are you sure it’s supposed to do that?” Sam asked her.

“I don’t know,” she snapped. “We’ll just have to wait and see.”

On Sunday, it was time to change the water and replace the filter in the tank. Serena carefully used the gravel vacuum to suck out about a quarter of the water from the tank and into the big bucket. They dumped this down the sink. Then they replaced the water they had removed. Serena put a new filter cartridge in and they sat watching the tank for a while.

  “Flippy seems okay,” she said.

“He does,” Sam said. “But I think he’s lonely. Can we get another fish?”

The child was relentless, Serena thought. But she turned him down and sent him to bed.

In the morning, the water in the tank was much clearer and it continued to look better over the next couple days. Sam continued pestering for more fish and on Wednesday, Serena gave in but insisted they should go to the other pet store. Sam didn’t argue this time.

They picked out a bright red fish from a tank full of them. Sam sat staring at it for a few minutes.

“They hypnotized me!” he said, not taking his eyes off the tank.

Next they picked a bright yellow guppy from a different tank. The employee scooped it out and deposited it in the same bag as the red one.

“Aren’t they supposed to go in separate bags?” Serena asked. That’s what they always did at Dalton’s.

“No, it doesn’t matter,” the woman said. “You’re just dumping it all in the same tank an
yway.”

“You’re not supposed to put the water from the store in your own tank,” Sam piped up. “That’s what Lance told me.”

“It doesn’t matter,” the woman insisted. She tied the bag up and wrote the item numbers on it. “Enjoy your fish!”

Serena and Sam headed to the cash register to pay for their purchases and then headed home. They didn’t just dump the bagful of water in, but used the net to scoop the fish into the tank as Lance had shown them. Serena suspected the Dalton brothers knew what they were talking about.

“What are we naming these ones?” Serena asked Sam.

“The red one hypnotized me, so let’s call him Hippy.”

Serena laughed. “Okay, welcome home, Hippy. How about the yellow one?”

“It’s a sunrise guppy, so let’s call that one Sunny.”

“Hippy, Flippy, and Sunny. What a nice trio of fish,” Serena said.

They stayed up, watching the fish swim around a little. The new red fish, Hippy, seemed to be unusually interested in Flippy and kept chasing the orange fish around the tank. Flippy would try to hide behind the heater or the plants but Hippy would find him and chase him around again. Serena wasn’t sure if this was normal fish behavior or not, but she shooed Sam off to bed before they could worry about it too much.

In the morning, Flippy was dead. Serena could see how upset Sam was. It was the fourth fish they had lost and it was getting hard for him.

“Why don’t our fish stay alive?” he complained.

“I don’t know, sweetie,” Serena replied. She hugged him quickly and then sent him off to school before heading to work herself.

When she arrived, she hung up her coat and placed her lunch bag in the small refrigerator they had in the break room. She popped a coffee pod in the coffee maker and added cream and sugar before heading to her office. She had just settled at her desk when the phone rang.

“Greely’s Marketing, Serena speaking,” she answered.

“Serena, it’s Angela. I’ll be there in about ten minutes and then I need to meet with you in the conference room.”

“No problem,” Serena said. “I’ll be there.”

Angela Greely was her boss and the owner of the company. Serena wondered what was going on. She grabbed her coffee, notepad and pen and went into the conference room. Then she made her boss a coffee and brought it into the room as well. She sat down and began doodling pictures of fish on the notepad. She didn’t have to wait long before Angela breezed in.

“Serena,” she said. “I have some clients coming in for a meeting first thing this morning, and I’d like you to take them. You’ve just finished that campaign for the bakery, so you’ve got more time than Janet or Norman.”

  “No problem,” Serena said. “Who—”

“Oh, wait,” Angela said, peeking out the door. “I think that’s them.” She disappeared.

Serena shrugged and tore the page of fish doodles off the notepad. She took a sip of her coffee and then froze when she heard deep, low voices coming toward the conference room. Oh, please no, anyone but them! she thought desperately. But she wasn’t surprised when she saw Liam and Lance come into the room behind Angela. They both raised their eyebrows in identical looks of surprise, quickly followed by sexy grins.

“…is one of our best,” Angela was saying. “She’ll be able to take care of you.”

Serena winced at the words. Given her history with the Daltons, they were rich with double meaning. And Lance picked up on it.

“Yes, we’re hoping she can take care of us,” he said, his brown eyes locking on hers. They held a mischievous twinkle. “Hello, Serena.”

Serena stood to greet them and knocked the coffee mug over, spilling the contents across the table and onto her legs.

  “Shit!” she said, jumping back.

“Oh, dear,” said Angela. “Let me grab some paper towel.” She disappeared again, leaving Serena standing there, coffee dripping down her legs, in awkward silence. Thankfully, her boss returned quickly with a handful of paper towels. She helped Serena clean up the table and handed her the remaining towels to use on herself. Then she waved Lance and Liam into chairs across from Serena.

“Our Serena is a bit clumsy, but she’s got a great mind,” Angela said. Serena’s cheeks burned red.

“Actually,” said Liam, “we’re already acquainted.”

Angela looked at them in surprise. “Oh!”

Serena sighed. “I got my concussion when I fell in their store,” she explained.

Angela burst out laughing. “I’m sorry, Serena. I didn’t know that’s how you got the concussion. I guess they would already know about your clumsiness.”

  “Yes,” Serena replied shortly.

“Well, I guess I don’t need to make introductions, then,” Angela said. “Gentlemen, have you had a chance to look over our service packages?”

“We have,” Liam said. He looked right at Serena as he said, “We’d like the full-service package.”

Serena’s flush was spreading to her ears now, and down her neck to her chest.

“Excellent!” said Angela. “I’ll go get the paperwork, and you three can discuss some of the details a little more.” She left the room.

Serena and the Dalton brothers sat looking at each other for a moment before she finally gave in to courtesy and said, “Thank you for the flowers.”

Lance’s smile faded a bit. “Serena, I am so sorry. I totally overstepped my boundaries. I should have just left you and Liam, but I wanted you so badly,” he said huskily. He sounded sincere.

“It’s okay,” Serena replied. “I probably overreacted. You caught me by surprise.”

“Let us make it up to you,” Lance said. “We can take you out for dinner tonight.”

“No,” Serena said quickly. “I told you before, I’m not ready for a relationship right now.”

“The way you kissed me back sure suggested otherwise,” Liam said in a low voice.

Serena was mortified. She knew she had kissed him back, clinging like a crazy woman. She didn’t need him to remind her of that. “I’m allowed to get carried away, too!” she snapped.

“Here we go,” Angela sang out as she waltzed back into the room, a stack of papers in hand. “The contract is right here.” She set it down in front of them and then began going through the details, oblivious to the tension in the room.

When all the documents had been signed by the four of them, Angela said, “Did you have a chance to discuss some of the things you’d like from Serena?”

  Serena winced.

“Not in great detail,” Liam replied. “And right now, we need to get back to the store, but we thought perhaps we could meet over dinner this evening.”

Serena’s eyes widened in shock. How dare they! She had turned them down and now they were going to use the pretense of a working dinner to get her to go out with them!

  “That sounds splendid,” Angela said.

“But I don’t have anyone to watch Sam,” Serena protested.

“I’ll come watch him,” Angela replied. “You should get out of the house.”

Serena looked from Lance to Liam to her boss. It was like they were conspiring against her. Not seeing an out, she relented. “What time?”

“We’ll pick you up at seven,” Lance said. “See you then.”

The brothers stood and walked out the door. Serena slumped in her chair, putting her head down on the table.

“Serena?” Angela asked. “Are you okay?”

“I’m fine,” she mumbled. “My head just hurts a little.”

  “Do you want an Advil?”

“No, I’ll be okay.” Serena lifted her head from the table and gathered her things.

“I’ll come by your house around quarter to seven,” Angela said.

“Sounds great,” Serena replied, without enthusiasm. She walked back into her office and closed the door behind her, praying that there would be no more surprises that day.

  When she got home
, she picked Sam up from the neighbor’s.

“I’m going out for a business dinner tonight,” she told him. “Angela’s going to come and watch you. Make sure you don’t give her a hard time. And be in bed by eight thirty.”

  “Okay, Mom,” Sam said.

She prepared his supper and then hopped into the shower. She took great care with her hair again, using the diffuser to accentuate her curls, but pinning some of them up and back from her face. She chose a simple black sheath dress with a plunging neckline and accessorized with a silver necklace, bracelet and earrings. She was just applying lipstick when she heard Sam yell from the front that Angela was there. She finished, grabbed her briefcase, and went out to the living room.

“Wow,” Angela said. “You look gorgeous!”

“Thanks,” Serena said. “It’s kind of nice to get dressed up once in a while.”

“And even if it is business, at least the company will be pleasant,” Angela said with a grin.

“Hopefully,” Serena muttered under her breath. She gave Sam his bedtime reminders again, and he took Angela out to the living room to look at his fish tank. The phone rang. Glancing at the TV, she saw the Dalton brothers in the front entrance. She picked up the phone and buzzed them in. A few moments later there was a knock on the door.

When she opened the door, she and the twins stood staring at each other for a moment. They looked stunning. She was used to seeing them dressed casually. At the store they wore blue golf shirts with the store logo and chinos. Now, they both stood before her in tailored, charcoal-grey suits. One had a royal-blue shirt and the other’s was crimson. Glancing up at their hair, she decided it was Lance in the blue and Liam in red. She grew a bit flushed at the hungry looks they were both giving her, their eyes travelling over her body.

“Liam! Lance!” Sam cried and came flying out from the living room. He threw himself at them, hugging first one man, then the next. “How come you’re here?”

“We’re taking your mom out tonight, kiddo,” Liam said.
